Resources

Massachusetts is on its way to building a better and more affordable future. The Healey-Driscoll administration recently released the state’s first comprehensive statewide housing plan, A Home for Everyone, that fully outlines the housing needs each community needs over the next ten years. This builds on the Affordable Homes Act of 2024, proposed and signed by Governor Healey, which created innovative programs and resources residents can take part in to support the housing market.

Here are a few helpful resources for our housing champions:

Build an ADU!

Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are small residential living spaces located on the same lot as another home. The Affordable Homes Act allows homeowners to build an ADU by right. The Healey-Driscoll administration has also created an ADU loan program that offers fixed-rate second mortgages of up to $250,000 through trusted community lenders. Learn more about ADUs: here. Mortgage application through MassHousing: here.

First-Time Homebuyers 0% Interest Loan

More Massachusetts residents than ever are eligible for a $25,000 interest-free down payment and homebuyer assistance loan to purchase their first home. The Healey-Driscoll administration and the Legislature are investing $25 million dollars to expand MassHousing’s homebuyer assistance program. Seasonal Community Supports

Massachusetts is lucky to have so many beautiful regions that bring tourists to our state throughout the year. Many communities experience substantial variation in seasonal employment and the administration is supporting those municipalities through several programs available to seasonal communities, including the Year-Round Housing Trust Fund, which allows for the creation and preservation of affordable and attainable housing for year-round residents.
